daniel....please read my PM and reply to me when you have time, I guess I have to always remind everyone I'm a 'klutz' with the camera and not always presenting the best image....

The officer is bending to one side as briefed and looking up.....

but with little time to tale the pics and still not being 100% OK with the new camera, I can't get perfect images of each mini...sorry guys.

Wow... Typed words don't give enough praise, and neither do the photos either, I'm sure. Thank you, Tony, for rendering our ideas into putty/metal.

Sincerely,

Joe

Stu and Tony,

I do have one request to tweak some of the miniatures, and I believe it won't be too difficult.

Could you lengthen the skirts on the parkas on some of the kneeling figures so that the skirts nearly reach the knees?

In particular, the kneeling figure firing the Kar98, the kneeling MG42 figure, the kneeling figure throwing a grenade. From the photos, the kneeling NCO pointing out a target and the kneeling figure with the ammo cans look ok, but a little more skirt wouldn't hurt.

These parkas must have been awkward (and hot) to fight in.

Discussion? Comments?

Thanks!

Joe

Yeah they are a bit short because I was trying to reprsent the way that the uniform rode up or while a bloke wearing it was trying to kneel down, I didn't have any photos so had to get a 3/4 lenght coat on and botton it up right down to the bottom antd then tried to kneel down and sure enough it either just catches on your knees so you can't get down or rides right uo almost to your waist in a big bundle whish looks hideous so the best I could go for was a copy of what dragon did in set 6059

Seriously to have it round their knees when they are kneeling down it would have to be cut like a womans A line skirt. If you have Platz der leibstandart the pikkie at the top of page 222 of the two blokes sitting on the trails of a pak 38/40 show this defect up best, when trying to sit down or kneel or even run I suppose, they must have had to lift them up like some victorian lady hitching up her pettycoats...........'cept hard .............well I wouldn't laughed at em.....not while they were in earshot anyway..............the soldiers complained about the things being too long to move in and too hot and said all they were good for was sentry duty or sleeping in and many were kept in company transport in lew of sleeping bags.I suppose all it came down to was the SS wanted to make sure there was no repeat of the 1941 frozen meat fiasco, they just over compensated.

Nice looking uniform though, always wanted to have a crack at it , you won't see it in the pikkies but my favourit part of them is the hoods I think the fur effect came out quite well.

Regards Tony

Good points, Tony, and good eye catching the gunners on the PaK 38. I'll go with your judgement.

Up-date: Second batch of masters done!

I'm particulary impressed with the winter soviets and the sdkfz riders, I think Tony has captured the 'rough' combat appearance of the red army winter troops very well. 8-)

Tony is on the home straight now, just 17 more minis to go!
